Sentient, a New York-based AI firm, has unveiled The GRID—an open-source network for building and monetizing artificial general intelligence systems. Positioned as a decentralized alternative to closed AI marketplaces like OpenAI, the platform enables developers to integrate AI agents, models, or tools and earn token-based rewards. Optional monetization routes include usage fees and subscriptions.

The GRID debuts with over 40 AI agents, 50 data sources, and 10+ models spanning Web2 and Web3 ecosystems. Notable integrations include generative graphics engine Napkin, search startup Exa, and blockchain-connected agents deployed across Base, Polygon, and Arbitrum. Users access these resources through Sentient Chat, an interface for creating workflows handling tasks from calendar coordination to code generation.

"This isn't just a better app store for AI—it's foundational infrastructure to make open-source AI viable long-term," said co-founder Himanshu Tyagi. The platform emphasizes interoperability, allowing cross-chain functionality and composable intelligence. Its tokenomics model aims to create sustainable incentives for decentralized AGI development.
